The origins of Eau de Cologne 4711
The story of Eau de Cologne 4711 began in 1792 when Wilhelm Mülhens created a fresh fragrance from a formula of Aqua Mirabilis given to him by a Carthusian monk. Its enigmatic and numerical name comes from the address where the first copies of this historic juice were made. Indeed, at that time, Wilhelm Mülhens lived at 4711, alley of the bells in Cologne. However, Cologne's numbering was changed in 1811 and this address became number 12 on the same thoroughfare. If the name of Eau de Cologne has since been used for many generic perfumes, this one is indeed the original. Its recipe, meanwhile, has been kept secret for over two centuries, which has allowed this product to preserve its purity and virtues.

Like every self-respecting Eau de Cologne, the 4711 perfume is intended for both men and women. This mixed essence begins with a citrus flight characteristic of Eaux de Cologne.
