Fusion D'Issey, the new eau de toilette for men from Issey Miyake

On the scent side, Gabrielle is composed of a floral and abstract fragrance, solar and airy. It is based on an accord of white flowers and is signed by the talented official Chanel nose: Olivier Polge. At the head of Chanel olfactory creations since 2015, he has imagined here a very feminine and personal perfume. Gabrielle begins with a fresh and fruity flight. Mandarin gives it a confident and tangy appearance. Grapefruit, on the other hand, reinforces its bitterness. The currant gives it a more tonic aura. Then, Gabrielle's heart evolves towards more femininity and romanticism. It consists of tuberose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and orange blossom. Finally, the whole is wrapped in a warmer, waxy and sensual base releasing a breath of sandalwood and musk. Olivier Polge explained his inspiration in this way: “I chose these ingredients because they are part of our vocabulary. I think these ingredients must express something real and that they correspond to the personality of Gabrielle Chanel. […] When I created this perfume, he says, I had no idea how it would be received and used by customers. I like to think that they will do something very personal with it ”.

Kristen Stewart as the face of Gabrielle Chanel perfume

From then on, all that was missing was a muse to embody the role of Gabrielle Chanel on the screen. Once again, Chanel has set her sights on actress Kristen Stewart. Ambassador of the brand for several years, this exceptional actress was immortalized by the French photographer Karim Sadli. The ad click for Gabrielle, meanwhile, is the work of British director Ringan Ledwidge.

France is renowned the world over for its exceptional heritage in terms of perfumery. Indeed, even if other countries are now very present in the olfactory sector, France remains one of the favorite places of this sector of activity. Moreover, it is not without reason that Grasse, a Provencal town located not far from Nice, has been considered the world capital of perfume since the 16th century. Nevertheless, French perfumery would be nothing without some big names who have marked our history. Among the latter, Gabrielle Chanel is undoubtedly one of the most famous designers in our country.

Gabrielle Chanel's story

Considering the extent of Gabrielle Chanel's work, it is almost instinctive to wonder where such an imagination comes from. In reality, however, she had a rather difficult childhood. Born in Saumur in 1883, Gabrielle Chanel found herself orphaned at the age of 12. It was in her orphanage that she learned sewing. She began her career as a fashion designer in 1903. At the same time, also attracted by the scene, she also sang regularly in bars during this period. This is where his nickname “Coco” comes from. It is finally thanks to her great love, Boy Capel, that Gabrielle Chanel spread her notoriety. The designer embarked on the manufacture of hats and opened her own milliner salon in Paris. Immediately achieving great success, it was not long before she opened other shops. His simple and sophisticated style was quickly appreciated. This allowed him to expand his sector of activity. This is how Gabrielle Chanel started making perfumes in 1921.

The imprint of designer Coco Chanel

The least we can say is that Gabrielle Chanel has left her mark in the history of fashion as well as that of perfumery. Her daring enabled her to make a major contribution to female emancipation. Thus, Coco Chanel did not hesitate to shorten the skirts, to dare a boyish look and to integrate black into the female wardrobe, a color until then entirely reserved for mourning. Likewise, the creator's adventure in the field of perfumery started off on a roll. Indeed, his first creation is none other than the iconic Chanel N ° 5. Nevertheless, we owe him many other fragrances such as N ° 22, Cuir de Russie, Gardenia, Bois des Îles or even N ° 19. Having worked hard throughout her life, the designer finally passed away in January 1971, at the age of 87. Nevertheless, even if it is no longer with us today, it still occupies a prominent place in the Chanel workshops and seems to have marked the history of this brand forever. Moreover, you only have to see the number of current creations bearing the name of the designer to realize her timeless aura.
