Aromatics in Withe, a magnetic fragrance
From then on, success was there. This success, she owes it to her muse, her daughter Marguerite, born in 1897. This only child, musician, will be a real source of inspiration for her. For her 30th birthday, Jeanne Lanvin decides to offer her daughter a perfume, “Arpège”, a fragrance that has become legendary and timeless.
A birthday full of love
In 1927, Jeanne Lanvin wanted to offer her daughter a special and precious gift, as if to thank her for so much inspiration and love. Marguerite, who decides to call herself Marie Blanche, is then a musician. At the first inspiration of this fragrance, Marie Blanche exclaimed “It looks like an arpeggio”… Jeanne then wanted to keep this name. Very close to her daughter, and proud of her career, Jeanne Lanvin said “I wanted to give women what music brings to life”. A musical perfume, a floral symphony, a feminine elegance… Arpège is all of these at the same time, but above all it is the most beloved and well-known perfume of the Lanvin house. He has been able to cross eras and fashions without being updated. During this joyous parenthesis of the interwar period,
Arpège and its magnificent floral bouquet
“Arpège” is made from more than 60 different essences, and the ingredients have all been chosen with extreme quality. In order to offer this sumptuous gift to her daughter, Jeanne Lanvin surrounded herself with two perfumers, André Fraysse and Paul Vacher. They decided to take inspiration from the "My Sin" perfume by bringing it much more warmth. "Arpège" made its main note, jasmine, accompanied by the most feminine of flowers, rose. “Arpège” begins with aldehyde notes associated with the freshness of bergamot and neroli. The ultra-feminine heart is composed of a wonderful bouquet with the presence of Bulgarian rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley and violet. These are then warmed by a delicately sensual base thanks to sandalwood, vetiver, vanilla and tuberose. The exceptional bottle is signed Armand Albert Rateau, decorator of great renown. The apple-shaped bottle symbolizes the curves of women. On the front of the black ball, a golden engraving made by the great artist, Paul Iribe. This engraving, which later became the coat of arms of the house, depicts Jeanne leaning over her daughter Marguerite.
A mythical perfume, a major in world perfumery. Arpège has that little extra soul that we like to have close to us. A true tribute to the love of a mother for her child.
